Skin Rejuvenation; Botox Injection

Botox, also called botulinum toxin type A, is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve activity in the muscles, causing a temporary reduction in muscle activity.

Botulinum toxin type A, better known as botox, is a product used in esthetic cosmetic surgery to correct distrubing expression lines in the face. Botox Cosmetic is used to temporarily lessen the appearance of facial wrinkles.

Beecause of paralyzing the muscles responsible for these lines due to using the botulinum toxin temporarily,  the correction occurs. This allows the skin to recover from years of squinting and frowning.

The best indications for treatment with botulinum toxin lie in the upper third of the face, for correction of vertical frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal furrows on the forehead and crow’s feet. Other uses are less common, and are best performed by experienced practitioners. Light under-treatment is usually preferred. Over-treatment can result in a diminished expression in the face.

Botox injections are noted primarily for the ability to reduce the appearance of some facial wrinkles. They are also used to treat such problems as repetitive neck spasms (cervical dystonia), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), overactive bladder and lazy eye. Botox injections may also help prevent chronic migraines in some people.

According to the article of ‘’Medical News Today’’ web portal, ‘’Botox is the most popular cosmetic surgery treatment, with more than 6 million Botox treatments administered each year. Botulinum toxin has proven to be a successful and valuable therapeutic protein when dosage, frequency of treatment and variety of treated clinical conditions are considered.’’

It is not known whether Botox will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication.
