Would Rhinoplasty affect smelling function?
Rhinoplasty surgery corrects the nose shape and fixes the breathing problems. The operated areas are far from the areas related with the olfactory function. So it is not possible to alter the smelling feeling because of a rhinoplasty surgery.
Only there will be a slight nasal congestion after the surgery for a short period of time depending on the edema occured. This may reduce the level of smelling but with the edema’s decrease smelling will return to its original level in time.
